     On Aug. 29, 2019 at 3:25 a.m. the Shelby Fire Department was dispatched to 504 Plateau Street for a structure fire by the Shelby County 911 Center. Avoca Fire Department was also dispatched for mutual aid.

      It is rare for a department to be called to a plane crash. In fact, it is so uncommon to hear this type of call come from our dispatch I think most of us will ask “is this a drill?” Responding to an aircraft emergency can introduce us to hazards we may not be prepared to deal with.

A two-vehicle accident in Bellwood Saturday evening, Aug. 31, resulted in four injuries. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 64 and Esplanade Street. As a result of the accident, one vehicle had rolled onto its top, and another vehicle was damaged and facing south on the highway.

On August 23-25, the North Sioux City Fire Department hosted a Boat Operations and Rescue class at the department. The class was taught by PRI and was attended by the other departments in the Siouxland area. They trained on: shore operations, standing water/lake operations, and also on river operations.

     The Viborg Fire Department was called to a tractor versus power pole call. The operator of the farm tractor struck the power line pole with the tillage implement while trying to clear tall weeds in a field. Crews from Southeastern E
