     A dairy barn (no longer actively used as a dairy barn but was being restored) caught fire Sunday morning, Dec. 12 at 9:41 a.m. The barn was a total loss, burning to the ground. No livestock were in the barn, only some cats. Cause of the fire is undetermined.

     For calls that require more water than what we carry in the apparatus booster tank but have no access to a hydrant system. We must rely on drafting. We have covered this topic a few times in the past. This month I would like to offer a suggestion that works very well to provide water quickly as the portable tank is set up.

Firefighters from Wayne, Pierce, Clarkson, Columbus and North Platte Volunteer Fire Departments, along with trainers from the Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office, took part in a controlled burn/training exercise at a house northwest of Wayne on Nov. 4. See more photos inside this issue.

     The Pierre Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at approximately 12:10 am Nov. 27, 2018. When firefighters arrived at the 400 block of South Central Avenue, they noted fire blowing through the roof of the eight-unit garage structure behind the apartments in this area.
