Received an email from Firefighters Close Call today, July 23, 2018, about the tragic death of Firefighter Nathan Flynn with the Howard County Fire and Rescue Department of Maryland.
The SDFA Board will be holding our Fall Meeting and Fallen Firefighter Memorial the end of September, in Pierre.
Aug. 3, 2018: Marble Rock Firemen’s Supper, Marble Rock, serving pork loin, hot dogs, beans, chips, potato salad, coleslaw and bars.
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department responded to a house fire on the morning of July 4. Firefighters were able to save the house but it was heavily damaged by smoke and fire.
Typically, volunteer departments are struggling to find good members.

Members of Battle Creek Fire and Rescue work on rescuing a female from the Elkhorn River northwest of Battle Creek on July 8.
Battle Creek Fire and Norfolk Fire were called out to a house fire at 837 Rd south west of Norfolk early Saturday morning. Upon arrival fire crews found a house fully engulfed.
We have entered the dog days of summer and in the eastern end of the state we have had some nice rains.
