Vehicle crash

Beresford Fire and Rescue along with Beresford Ambulance responded to a vehicle crash below the exit 42 on-ramp to I-29. The driver of the SUV was severely trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. Extrication required many skills and different types of rescue equipment. The driver’s compartment had to be disassembled to get access to the victim. EMS personnel monitored the person’s vital signs while the rescue crews worked on freeing him. Alcester Fire and Rescue and Ambulance covered other emergency calls that were happening because of the storm and people over driving the conditions. When free the Alcester units assisted with the entrapment at this scene. An ALS unit was called to assist with treating and accessing the victim. Submitted by T.A. Mullinix, Chief Beresford Fire and Rescue.
