Red Oak Fire Dispatched to Structure Fire

On Dec. 5, 2021 at 8:51 p.m., the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to 2587 K Ave. on a reported residential structure fire.

The first engine on scene reported heavy fire coming from a 2-story residential structure. Mutual Aid was called in from Stanton and Essex FD’s.

The residence was currently not being lived in. A defensive fire attack was conducted and fire ground operations were concluded 11:42 p.m.

The wind was a contributing factor in fire suppression as we had to deal with wind upwards 20 – 25 mph.

The house is a total loss. No injuries to fire/rescue personnel were reported.

Unfortunately due to the extent of the fire and property loss, a specific cause for the fire cannot be determined at this time, therefore, the fire will be classified as “Undetermined after investigation”.

The property owners are  Robert and Carroll Peterson of Red Oak.

Mutual Aid Agencies were Stanton & Essex Fire Depts., Mont. Co. EMA, Mont. Co. Sheriff’s Office, and. Co. Communications; SWI Rural Water, and Kent Swanson with a tractor/disc.
