Markville house fire

Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department got paged out for a fully engulfed house fire in Markville Sunday afternoon, March 10. Sandstone Fire Department offered mutual aid. The house, pole barn, and all the outbuildings were on fire, and it was going into the field and woods on both sides. The house is next door to the Markville station of the Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department, so they had the huge underground tank to pump water to keep pouring on the fire, but by 9 at night the tank was drained. It took all day Monday to refill it from Little Tamarack Lake. Submitted by Paul Raymond.
