   Aug. 13-23, 2026: IFA Hall of Flame, Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines.

Attic fires can present a significant challenge for engine companies. Access is often limited, visibility is poor, and the structural components of the roof can prevent an exterior hose stream from reaching the burning materials.

We had a very successful controlled house burn on July 18.

Car fire

   Members of the Alpena and Town and Country Fire Departments responded to a car fire early on October 24. The fire was a result of a car vs. deer collision. No injuries were reported.

Wildfire

After burning 167 acres near Pine City over the course of about two weeks, the Minnesota Incident Command Center lists the Evergreen fire as 100 percent contained.

Controlled burn

   Winthrop and Aurora Fire conducted a controlled house burn on Sept. 6. In this photo a firefighter tries to cool down the perimeter. See more photos inside.
